Pictured Rocks

Our autumn trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula was beautiful.  It was my first visit to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and I was amazed by the ever-changing landscape along the southern coast of  Lake Superior.  Waterfalls, rivers, sand dunes and 200 ft sandstone cliffs all combine to form Michigan's amazing Pictured Rocks.

I had a wonderful time on the trip, and enjoyed photographing some of nature's wonders.  These images have inspired me to create some new work.  Hopefully I will be creating paintings of the Pictured Rocks this winter.

A Special Gift

This summer I completed a painting for Bob, a man I met at a few artist markets, who wanted the piece created as a gift to his significant other.  Carmen, his girlfriend, has a small farm that she runs on her property.  Milking goats, sheep,  chickens, and a garden are all apart of her farm.   The piece below is the finished painting that I created for him.  After visiting her home and farm,  Bob and I decided to include Carmen's favorite goats, Hanna Rose and Ruthie, along with the babies and chickens.

Bob and I really enjoyed how the finished piece turned out, and it will continue to be a special piece of art that they will both cherish for a lifetime.  If you are interested in having me create a special art piece for you or someone special to you, please feel free to contact me.

Below are some of the photos that I worked from to create the painting of Carmen's farm.

Buzzing Bees

A visit to Blandford Nature Center was all I needed.  The field was filled with beautiful wildflowers and bees buzzing around collecting pollen.  I even spotted a few butterflies and a yellow finch.  It was a gorgeous evening.  Ever since my boyfriend, Michael Martin, created a few documentaries for the nature center, I enjoy making visits.  You can view his nature documentaries and other work www.garywillickers.com.
